It overlaps with everything — crime, horror, action, drama — but keeps its own identity: tension is the point, not the garnish. The best thrillers do not rely on shocks; they build pressure slowly until a single quiet scene is unbearable.

Use it for: the evening you want to be completely absorbed, the twist you do not want spoiled, the rewatchable puzzle you catch new details in. Don't expect it for: relaxation — that is the one thing it is professionally incapable of.
