Paramount+ is a catalogue assembled from acquisitions: CBS, Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, and a large sports portfolio. The result is a service with a clear centre of gravity in a few places and long, quiet stretches everywhere else.

The centre of gravity is Star Trek. Every series, every era, from The Original Series to Strange New Worlds, lives here — and for a certain kind of viewer that alone justifies the subscription. Around it sit CBS procedurals, a real block of live football and Champions League soccer, and a rotating set of theatrical films a few months after release.

Use it for: Star Trek completionism, live sport, and CBS-style comfort drama. Don't expect it for: a deep film catalogue or a broad slate of original series — the originals are thinner than the majors.

It's often the cheapest "fourth" subscription, and at that price its niches hold up.
